Afterschool programs for kids in saudi arabia Essay

Afterschool programs for kids in saudi arabia - Essay Example While education is developing in Saudi Arabia, kids still don’t have the programs that can help them discover their potential skills and talents. Most kids waste their time during after school time either watching TV or playing video games at home. Having an after school program would be a very positive addition learning in Saudi Arabia. The concept of after school programs is not well developed in Saudi Arabia with very few programs available in the kingdom. According to Hirsch (year), After school programs have shown results of improved â€Å"homework completion, better test scores, higher grades, and even better psychological development of the student†. This is the main project that I will pursue as soon as I get back home. I am going back to Saudi Arabia in July 2012. My project will commence as an after school program by September 2013. In the USA, after school programs have seen a tremendous growth in the recent decade. According to an estimate by Afterschool Alliance (2009), â€Å"at least 6 million ( eleven percent) of school-age youth regularly participated in after-school programs during School Year 2002-2003†. The numbers of after school programs participants have increased lately with about 8.4 million K†12 children (roughly fifteen-percent) attending afterschool Programs by 2009 (Afterschool Alliance, 2009). There are a many good reasons why parents want their children to attend after-school programs. Primarily, Carver and Iruka (2006) believe that these programs â€Å"provide diverse services such as academic instruction, cultural enrichment, safe places to stay, and adult supervision for children â€Å". ... TASC created a model for daily after-school programs that community organizations operate in partnership with schools, offering kids sports, arts, academic help and support for their healthy social and emotional development. TASC is dedicated to reversing that inequality and giving every student a fighting chance to succeed. Knowing that most US kids spend eighty-percent of their waking hours outside the school, TASC became determined to fill that gap with a useful activity. Since its establishment, TASC has helped 376,000 New York City kids, supported 486 New York City public schools, partnered with 328 community and cultural organizations and colleges and trained 16,000 community members to work in schools (TAC Annual Report). Education in Saudi Arabia From the time of its foundation in 1932 until now, Saudi Arabia has made tremendous progress in the field of education. In 1925, King Abdulaziz (in his capacity as the King of Najd and Hejaz – before the establishment of the K ingdom of Saudi Arabia) established â€Å"the Directorate of Education," the first formally organized educational center under the Ministry of the Interior because there was not enough qualified and educated people to establish an education department that represented what’s now known as the Ministry of Education. During its early years, Saudi Arabia made use of Egyptian assistance; however, not only as an aid for teaching by providing both the manpower as well as the knowhow . Furthermore, it has also helped subsidize the curriculum and organize the Saudi educational system. At that time, the Egyptian educational system was based on the English model; hence, it was but natural to also adopt the same educational model in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia’s first public school was

Organization Theory, Design And Structure; Ethical Leadership And Communication - Assignment Example Melvina here is required to change the figures of the number of animal deaths owing to exposure to the drug to less than 10 percent in order to help the development and commercialization process of the new cancer drug. Her making alterations to the figures stated in the report would help the drug move to the last testing stage in regards to human beings thus promoting its steady launch in the market. In here if Melvina obliges to listen to her superior’s advice in altering the figures pertaining to death of animals in regards to their exposure to the drugs then certainly she would help her company gain a strategic stand in launching the medicine. However, Melvina’s obligation to meet the needs of the company exposes human beings to a greater risk for drugs that happen to be fatal to animals also would render a large amount of harm on humans. Again her obligation to her superior’s words would also happen to invite greater risk to the company for at a later stage the company and she also might fall into serious trouble. Thus the plan of action that can be taken in this case in regards to Melvina is to make her superior understand the emerging risks tied to the sanctioning of the plan through adulterated means. This activity would help in creating awareness of the management body as to the potential risks involved in regards to the drug plan, which would have ev entually triggered dropping the decision taken. The Potent Stakeholders to the Decision The above case reflects that the human beings are being subjected to malicious and wrong information which in turn may prove detrimental to the well being and healthy lives of the community. Thus in the interest of global mankind, Melvina should consider the first right objective of paying heed to her superior when fulfilling the first right would tantamount to depriving the human race and cancer inflicted people of a better and healthy future. The Defining Moment The above analysis reflects that Melvina tends to convey a message where she does not like to meet the demands of her superior in manipulating the figures related to the number of deaths of the animals exposed to the drugs. Through such non-compliance to her superior’s requirement she intends to protect the interests of both the company and the human race in particular. However in regards to the company it tends to convey the mes sage of gaining a way out in whatever fashion possible for letting the drug gain due acceptance in the consumer market of the region. Thus the manager advices Melvina to take resort of adulterated means to change the figures abruptly and thereby help in strategizing the launching process of the drug. Chances and Hard Decisions In here, Melvina can take chances in obliging by her superior’s decisions in rightly adulterating the numbers in the report and thereby taking first chances in inviting health and fatal risks in regards to humanity and secondly in taking hard decisions knowingly. However, Melvina can also take chances in not obliging by the decisions of her superior and thereby creating risks in regards to her position and employment in the company. Again such decision needs to be taken on a hard stand for it would tantamount to non-compliance of her to the needs of her concern. Analysis based on Three Tests The Newspaper Test Here if the decision of the management team of the pharmaceutical company in regards to the passing of the

These relationships if maintained well, can elicit customer loyalty as well as preference, resulting in a competitive edge for the organization (Terrero 2009). With the contemporary issues that arise from the competitive environment of the hospitality industry, this essay will outline some of the modern themes that have penetrated the market as strategies to improve the customer relationship and establish competitiveness. Additionally, some challenges will be identified, with discussion of some steps that ca n ensure that these obstacles can be overcome. Contemporary Themes Even though superlative services provided is constantly at the hotelier forefront, both the hospitality education providers and the hotel industry are responding to transformations in the contemporary consumer and market trends (Laskarin, 2013). This has led to development or embracing of different elements in order to tailor their services and products to what fundamentally matters to this novel customer generation. The following is a discussion of three contemporary themes that have been embraced by the hospitality industry in an attempt to maintain competitive positions. Social Media in the Hospitality Industry Withiam (2012) highlights that the easy internet accessibility and the augmenting recognition of social media amid tourists have opened extensive prospects to impact travel decisions. Above 75% of tourists, search the social media to attain travel-related review and information prior to purchase and hotel b ookings. On the other hand, 32% of the tourists do not book or purchase travel accommodations with no reading reviews first. Mihaiu (2013) outlines that realizing the escalating latency of social media, the hospitality industry is now influencing travelers on search platforms and competition inside the social room, a practice that has turned out to be more powerful. Compare Organizations - Research Paper Example Similarly, some of these organizations are formed to help its members acquire higher education, learn more about the profession and be well equipped to serve the people that need their services and products. Therefore, joining such professional organization is a prudent approach to professionals who want to attain more in their profession. To begin with, these organizations have some aspects which are common. First, they have a minimum limit of the number of people that should be members. For example the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners have to adhere to this regulation so as to qualify to become an organization that will serve many people. This ensures that it is an organization that has a quorum and can discuss issues to greater lengths. If the number of people reach the required minimum, then the organization is likely to serve a large number of professionals in the world and in the stated region. Secondly, the organizati on must have a mission. A mission statement openly expresses the reason for formation of the organization and how it will help the members. An organization that has a strong mission is destined to serve its members without hesitation. As such, it will bank of fulfilling its mission while still maintaining high levels of service delivery. Thirdly, the professional organizations have to be open in case there is need to scrutinize the accounts, its performance and the way the internal environment in conducted. The organization is obligated to be open to its members since they have the right of association with the organization. Therefore, the members will want to know how the organization is run, its performance and any other issues that will affect the organization in the long run. As such, the members feel free to get any information that pertains to the organization. Therefore, the members are part of the scrutiny of the organization to note whether it is improving and making positi ve steps or if it is deteriorating in performance. The American Association of Heart Failure Nurses (AAHFN) is an organization that is specifically made to ensure its members are enhancing their education in nursing, getting more education in clinical practice, improving on their research and getting more information about how to improve heart failure outcomes in patients (American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, 2012). In doing such, the organization has to ensure it connects with other nurses in other regions, which offers a pool of ideas. The exchange of ideas helps the organization treat these cases and contain any complexities that may arise. In so doing, the organization translates findings in research into practice, which helps find the best ways to cure any complexities that are found in heart failures. This organization welcomes all professionals who are specialized in caring for people with heart failure. As such, the organization values all the valuable professionals that could help improve care given to people who are having heart failure cases. Chemistry Research Part 1 Acids Essay Example for Free

Chemistry Research Part 1 Acids Essay Ethanoic acid is non-toxic and is a weak acid [4], meaning it will not do any damage to most surfaces as it does not corrode or bind to other metals, therefore can be easily removed through washing or rinsing it [2]. Disadvantages: Ethanoic Acid is the slowest de-scaler of the three acids, and is therefore the least effective. It also may cause an unpleasant smell, and can have a negative effect on the taste of coffee [6] meaning one would need to spend longer time rinsing and cleaning the machine thoroughly to ensure that the taste of the coffee is not affected. Citric Acid Advantages: Citric acid leaves behind zero toxic residues and has just enough acidic concentration to descale without etching or damaging household surfaces in any way and there are no volatile compounds or products that harm the environment. Disadvantages: Because citric acid is a weak acid, it wont remove heavy build-up of scale very quickly. It is also a powder hence it must be dissolved for use. It also works best with hot water meaning there will be higher energy consumption. Even when used with hot water, citric acid is not as effective at descaling as Sulfamic acid. Sulfamic Acid Advantages: Sulfamic acid is the fastest de-scaler It dissociates into hydroxonium ions more readily in aqueous solution than the others, therefore giving a greater concentration of atoms that are able to react with the calcium in lime scale. It is safe to use because it does not produce chlorine gas [5], which can be toxic. Sulfamic acid also has a low volatility. Disadvantages: Sulfamic Acid can be an irritant to eyes or skin and is the most expensive of the de-scalers. Q2) How these de-scalers remove limescale Limescale forms when hard water is heated above 61Â °C or when it is left to evaporate on surfaces such as taps and showerheads. Hard water is water that contains high quantities of calcium and magnesium ions. These hardness minerals, in the form of calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate, precipitate out of hard water to form limescale [1]. Therefore, to clean or remove limescale, something needs to dissolve or soften calcium carbonate and/or magnesium carbonate, so it can easily wash away. Acids cause mineral deposits such as rust to oxidise, thereby weakening them and making it possible to simply wash them away. Lime scale removers work by chemically reacting with the lime scale to form safe chemicals and ions. Lime scale is Calcium Carbonate, and when broken down by strong acids, produces Calcium Chloride, Water and CO2. These are much safer, and can be washed away with water, to remove the CaCl from the area.
